This article from the Washington Post discusses the new progress in the House of Representatives. The House has unanimously agreed to pay Federal employees even though the government is shut down. Both parties made statements that said workers shouldn’t be punished or hurt because of federal funding disagreements. The federal employees will not be working but will receive pay as though they were. The article ends stating that republicans are shifting their demands on what federal funding will be. I believe that this agreement is the right way to go during a shutdown so that it is not more harmful to the country than it has to be. I also believe that this buys the House more time to keep the shutdown because the employees are content with the shutdown and there is less pressure to reopen quickly.
